a Predominant Hospital is in need of a Surgical Support Assistant in NYC!
Shift: Day Work Schedule: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk), flex schedule 8 Hour Days/Monday – Friday with Saturday rotation
Hours: 37.5 hours weekly
As the Surgical Support Assistant, you will contribute to the overall patient experience by assisting in the preparation of our Operating Rooms prior to surgical Procedures. The SSA will clean and maintain the OR at all times. You will also ensure adequate inventory supply.
Room Preparation: Cleans OR in accordance with established procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Disposal of soiled materials.Strips, cleans, and makes beds, OR Tables, and stretchers. Cleans all OR surfaces including: OR walls, floors, lights, carts, cables, and other equipment.
Material/Equipment Delivery: Responsible for ensuring the proper equipment for each surgery is ready and delivered to the OR for each procedure. Responsibilities include:
Selects and delivers sterile equipment as needed to include: sterile trays, case carts, disposable sterile products
Safely transports cultures and specimens to other departments as directed by the Nurse and Physician.
Supply Picking & Stocking: Ensures the stock room holds adequate supplies and equipment.
Completes inventory request forms
Reports stock shortages to Supervisor and Supply Clerks.
Surgical Assistance - Pre-surgery: Assists in collecting of supplies and gowning when needed.
Assists Surgical Technician in ensuring that instruments are appropriately placed on tray based on proper protocol.
High School diploma or equivalency required
Previous experience in a healthcare setting is required, preferably in the Operating Room
Excellent oral and written communication skills and a warm, caring demeanor
Ability to push, pull, lift and carry medium to heavy weights throughout the day, including equipment and patients
